PurpleSNIFF is a tool used by Apple to read identification and diagnostic information from an iOS device, especially for engineering tests.
When executing PurpleSNIFF, it will wait for an iOS device to be connected to the computer. Once the device connected, the main screen of the software will turn green if it has successfully identified the device or will turn red if an error has occurred.
PurpleSNIFF is divided in three main sections: Device, Console and IORegistry.
“Device” shows all information about the device and its iOS version like baseband version, carrier info, activation, NAND total size, partitions size and free space, audio and video codecs, security fusing (production or development) and lot more.
” Console” runs live diagnostic on an iOS device. Actions made on the device are reported to PurpleSNIFF, may be used to detect software and hardware errors.
“IORegistry” seems to show information about iOS drivers.
what i fond iTunes generates an Activation Token and sends it to Apple’s activation server. Once the Activation Token is validated, the server will generate a WildcardTicket and signs it with Apple’s private key. iTunes then calls AMDeviceActivate with the WildcardTicket; The device gets the WildcardTicket and checks if the signature matches. If it does, it get pasts the emergency call screen and allowing the use of the iPhone. Also you can check your UDID . this post is about How to find FairPlay Certificate, True certs, XML info, UDID with PurpleSNIFF
